Every $50 fills one Purple Care Bag. Give once, give ten, every bag counts.

Each band is one stage. Bands are equal in height and the dollar scale is stepped.

How it works

From your hands to a shelter door.

A Purple Care Bag is a small, solid welcome. Soap, a toothbrush, something soft. Everyday essentials, gathered with care and waiting at the shelter door.

Why purple

Some bruises fade. A brain injury can stay for a lifetime.

Purple Thursday x7 raises awareness of brain injuries caused by intimate partner violence. Canadian Royal Purple’s cause is brain injury awareness and prevention. Every bag carries two gifts: care for the person who receives it, and a louder conversation in the community that fills it.

How the numbers work

Each bag is $50 CAD. Ten bags fill one shelter, so $500 fills a shelter.

Raised so far: $550, which is 11 bags. That fills Kelowna ($500, 10 bags) and puts $50 (1 bag) toward the Okanagan.

Kelowna: 1 shelter, $500. Okanagan: West Kelowna, Vernon and Penticton, 3 shelters, $1,500. Rest of BC: 30 BC shelters minus the 4 above leaves 26 shelters, $13,000. Rest of Canada: 179 shelters minus BC’s 30 leaves 149 shelters, $74,500. All stages together: 179 shelters, 1,790 bags, $89,500. Shipping and other expenses are not included.

On the bag, the scale shows the running total where each stage ends. Each band is the same height, so the scale is stepped from one stage to the next.
